2018 Annual Meeting

Plan to join us October 17th (Wednesday) through 19th (Friday) in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on the campus of Northern State University for the Great Plains Sociological Association 2018 annual conference.  The GPSA’s annual conference is a great opportunity for academics in the social sciences and humanities as well as practicing professionals to network and share their scholarly work, ideas and interests, as well as recent accomplishments. The annual conference also gives graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to present their work in a supportive yet professional academic setting.

In an attempt to broaden the scope of the conference and welcome colleagues in related fields, the theme of the 2018 annual conference is “In Defense of Scientific Gobbledygook.”

All official conference activities will take place on the campus of Northern State University.  A block of rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express off of US 12 in Aberdeen, just two miles east of campus.  Reservation information is provided on the conference registration form.

Call for Papers
Paper sessions featuring both completed research and projects in progress are the mainstays of the GPSA annual conference.  Thematic panel submissions and roundtable proposals are encouraged, and workshops, especially those relating to either teaching or methods of research/inquiry will be welcomed.  In an effort to broaden the reach of GPSA, interested scholars from related fields are highly encouraged to submit proposals.

Proposal for papers, thematic panels, and workshops must include a title, 150-200 word abstract, and contact information for all authors.  This information must be submitted by Monday, October 1st, 2018 to Dr. Kristi Brownfield, the 2018 Event Coordinator, via email at kristi.brownfield@northern.edu.
